Vienna, Va. -- CEL-SCI, a Vienna-based biotechnology firm developing drugs to treat cancer and infectious diseases, said on Thursday that it plans to raise $4.4 million through a registered direct offering. Under the deal, expected to close on Tuesday, the company will sell 9.7 million shares of its stock for $0.45 each to several institutional investors. CEL-SCI, which also has operations in Baltimore, is the developer of Multikine, which is entering later-stage clinical trials for the treatment of advanced head and neck cancer. The company also is developing a vaccine to prevent and treat swine flu.
